The Company reserves the right to amend prices, service descriptions, and available packages at any time. Confirmed bookings will be honoured at the agreed price unless the Client changes the scope of the service.
5. Service Location
Calibration services are available in selected areas, including but not limited to:
-
Rhodes
-
Athens
-
Dublin, Ireland
-
Surrounding areas where scheduling allows
Other areas may be available at additional cost. Travel charges, accommodation, ferry, flight, parking, tolls, transport of equipment, or other reasonable travel expenses may apply depending on the service location.
For local cinemas, screening rooms, post-production facilities, and multi-display projects, travel and access requirements will be quoted separately where necessary.
6. Appointment Time and Access
The assigned calibrator will attend the agreed service location at the scheduled time. A reasonable arrival window may apply to account for traffic, travel delays, parking, access restrictions, or other practical circumstances.
If the calibrator is delayed, the Company will make reasonable efforts to notify the Client.
The Client must ensure that the calibrator has safe and timely access to the premises, room, display, equipment rack, power sockets, network connection where required, and any relevant playback or source devices.
If access is not available, or if the service cannot proceed due to circumstances within the Client’s control, the booking may be treated as completed or may require rescheduling at additional cost.
7. Client Preparation Requirements
To ensure the calibration can be performed efficiently, the Client must prepare the system before the appointment.
The Client should ensure that:
-
The display, projector, monitor, or system is installed and working.
-
The display is connected to the source devices normally used.
-
The required remotes, passwords, menus, service access where applicable, and control apps are available.
-
The display has access to the internet where required.
-
The display and relevant devices are updated or configured before the appointment, unless otherwise agreed.
-
At least one available power socket is accessible near the display or equipment area.
-
A small table, desk, or stable surface is available near the display for measurement equipment.
-
The area is clean, safe, and suitable for sensitive instruments and cables.
-
Pets, children, and unrelated individuals are kept away from the calibration area during the service.
-
The room can be darkened where requested, especially for projector, cinema, theater, HDR, and critical display work.
For TVs and monitors, the display should ideally be powered on and warmed up before calibration. For projectors, reference monitors, broadcast displays, and cinema rooms, longer warm-up times may be required.
8. Network, Wi-Fi, and Source Device Access
Certain calibration workflows may require the calibrator’s equipment to communicate with the display, source device, pattern generator, software, or local network.
The Client may be asked to provide access to the local Wi-Fi network or a guest network. If a guest network is used, the display or relevant device must be connected to the same network as the calibrator’s equipment where required.
The Company does not provide general network troubleshooting as part of a standard calibration service. If the TV, monitor, projector, media player, computer, or network is not functioning correctly, the service may be limited, rescheduled, or charged as technical support at an additional rate.
9. Environment and Working Conditions
Calibration requires a controlled and safe working environment.
The Client must provide:
-
Uninterrupted electricity
-
Safe access to the display and related devices
-
A stable area for instruments and equipment
-
A quiet and distraction-free environment
-
Controlled lighting where required
-
Reasonable cooperation during the service
For accurate measurements, the Company may request that windows, curtains, blinds, lights, or reflective surfaces are adjusted during the calibration.
The Company may refuse to continue work if the environment is unsafe, unsuitable, excessively interrupted, or likely to endanger equipment, people, property, or measurement accuracy.
10. Time on Site
The expected duration of a calibration depends on the service type, display, signal path, and room conditions.
A standard calibration may take several hours. Projectors, professional displays, HDR assessment, local cinema rooms, broadcast systems, LUT workflows, and multi-display setups may require additional time.
Unless otherwise agreed in writing, a standard on-site consumer calibration appointment includes up to three continuous hours on site. Additional time may be charged separately.
For professional, cinema, broadcast, facility, or multi-room work, the expected time and scope will be defined by quotation or agreement.
If the service cannot be completed within the expected time due to technical limitations, display behaviour, Client delays, access issues, network problems, software problems, source device issues, or other circumstances outside the Company’s control, the Company may conclude the service, provide partial results, recommend further work, or charge for additional time where applicable.
11. Calibration Results and Limitations
Calibration improves the display within its physical, electronic, optical, software, and control limitations.
The Company does not guarantee that a display will meet any particular reference standard unless this has been specifically agreed in writing and the display is technically capable of meeting that standard.
Calibration results may be affected by:
-
Display panel limitations
-
Projector brightness limitations
-
Screen material and room reflections
-
Poor uniformity
-
Aging panels, lamps, or lasers
-
Firmware limitations
-
Missing or restricted display controls
-
Automatic brightness limiting
-
Tone mapping behaviour
-
Operating system colour management
-
Application colour management
-
Source device output settings
-
HDMI, SDI, USB-C, DisplayPort, or network issues
-
Future firmware or software updates
-
User changes after calibration
-
Factory resets after calibration
-
Replacement parts or service menu changes
-
Environmental lighting changes
Calibration cannot turn a consumer display into a professional reference monitor if the hardware is not capable of reference-level performance.
12. Professional and Broadcast Workflows
For professional video, broadcast, post-production, HDR, cinema, and facility work, the display must be considered as part of a wider monitoring chain.
The Company may assess or advise on signal path, output format, legal/full range levels, colour space, gamma or EOTF target, LUT management, playback settings, software settings, and monitoring device configuration.
Unless specifically included in the quote, the Company is not responsible for full system design, facility engineering, computer repair, software installation, network configuration, storage systems, editing application training, broadcast compliance certification, or ongoing technical support.
13. Factory Reset and Existing Settings
A factory reset is not included in a standard calibration service unless explicitly stated.
If a factory reset is requested or required, it may incur an additional fee and may erase existing user settings, applications, network settings, picture modes, calibration data, or other configuration.
The Client is responsible for backing up or recording any important settings before requesting a factory reset.
The Company is not responsible for loss of previous settings, presets, user preferences, or third-party calibration data if a reset is requested by the Client or required due to the condition of the display.
14. Post-Service Changes
After calibration, the Client must avoid changing picture settings, white balance controls, colour management controls, service menu settings, LUTs, operating system colour profiles, video output settings, or source device settings unless they understand the impact of those changes.
The Company is not responsible for changes made by the Client, another person, a software update, firmware update, factory reset, installer, retailer, technician, or third-party service after calibration.
Any post-service adjustment, re-check, troubleshooting, or re-calibration may be charged separately.
15. Reports and Documentation
A calibration report, verification report, or written summary may be included in some professional services or available as a paid add-on.
Reports are based on the conditions, equipment, settings, and measurement results at the time of service. They do not guarantee future performance after software updates, firmware updates, aging, environmental changes, Client adjustments, repairs, or changes to the signal path.
Reports are intended for the Client’s internal use unless otherwise agreed in writing.
16. Equipment and Safety
Calibration may involve sensitive instruments, tripods, meters, spectroradiometers, colorimeters, test pattern generators, laptops, cables, power strips, and other professional equipment.
The Client must ensure that the working area is safe and that unrelated people, children, and pets do not interfere with the equipment.
The Client is responsible for any damage to Company equipment caused by unsafe conditions, interference, negligence, pets, children, liquids, unstable furniture, or unauthorised handling by the Client or third parties.
The calibrator may use protected power distribution equipment where required, but the Client remains responsible for the safety and condition of the premises’ electrical installation.
17. Damage and Liability
The Company will take reasonable care when performing calibration services.
However, the Company is not liable for pre-existing faults, latent defects, hardware failure, panel defects, firmware issues, software issues, network problems, HDMI/SDI/connection problems, user settings lost due to required adjustments, or faults that become apparent during normal use or calibration.
The Company is not liable for indirect, consequential, or business losses, including but not limited to lost revenue, lost production time, missed deadlines, failed deliveries, rejected work, loss of data, loss of settings, or loss of opportunity.
Nothing in these Terms excludes liability where such exclusion is not permitted by applicable law.
18. Cancellation, Rescheduling, and Refunds
Calibration services require preparation, scheduling, travel planning, and allocation of professional equipment.
If the Client needs to reschedule, they should notify the Company as early as possible.
Where a service is cancelled at short notice, rescheduled repeatedly, or cannot proceed due to circumstances within the Client’s control, cancellation or rescheduling fees may apply.
Once the service has started, fees are non-refundable. If the service has been completed, no refund will be issued.
For consumer clients, statutory cancellation rights may apply under Irish and EU consumer law. Where the Client requests that the service begins before the end of any applicable cancellation period, the Client may be required to pay for work already performed. If the service is fully performed with the Client’s prior request and acknowledgement, the right to cancel may be lost where permitted by law.
19. Identification
Where applicable, the assigned calibrator may carry identification or confirmation of appointment. The Client should ensure they are granting access only to the correct authorised person.
Unless otherwise stated, the assigned calibrator may be Bill Kastanakis or another authorised representative of DResearch Lab Limited.
20. Client Cooperation
The Client agrees to cooperate reasonably with the calibrator and follow practical instructions required for safe and accurate service delivery.
This may include changing display inputs, disabling lights, closing curtains or blinds, providing remotes, allowing access to menus, confirming source devices, avoiding interruptions, and keeping the calibration area clear.
If the Client does not cooperate, prevents the service from being performed properly, or creates unsafe or unsuitable conditions, the Company may stop the service and the full fee may remain payable.
21. No Guarantee of Creative or Commercial Outcome
Calibration is a technical service intended to improve measurement accuracy, consistency, and correct configuration within the limits of the equipment.
The Company does not guarantee any specific creative, commercial, artistic, broadcast acceptance, client approval, print match, streaming platform approval, certification, or subjective preference outcome unless specifically agreed in writing.
22. Governing Law
These Terms & Conditions are governed by the laws of Ireland.
Where applicable, disputes shall be subject to the jurisdiction of the Irish courts, without prejudice to any mandatory consumer rights that may apply under Irish or EU law.
23. Acceptance of Terms
By booking, purchasing, or proceeding with a calibration service, the Client confirms that they have read, understood, and agreed to these Terms & Conditions.
